Dear Parents:
I hope you all had a wonderful week and got to play in the snow (not just shovel). Even though we had a short week, we still accomplished a lot.
Here is a re-cap of what we did this week:
Reading: Students had their regular reading centers where they read a levelled Fountas and Pinnell book, did word work, practiced handwriting, and did a Piggie and Elephant activity. We also made Piggie and Elephant puppets. They are adorable! Students will be using the puppets to read their plays and act out Mo Willems’ Piggie and Elephant series.
Writing: This week, we worked on our Piggie and Elephant plays. Most of the students are finished.
Social Studies: I continued to read Chinese Folktales to the students. We started learning about Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year takes place on Thursday, February 19. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to learn about China through hands-on projects.
Science: We continued to learn about shadows. I printed out our Shadows book that we made last week. This week, we continued to work on our birch tree shadow project. We should have them finished by today.
Have a wonderful weekend! Andrea
