Dear Parents:
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful week! We have a lot to learn and accomplish in the last few weeks of school.
As many of you know, we will be moving to Stratham next year. I know e-mails have been going home about donating your time/money to help make our move possible. I want to thank all of you who have donated your time, expertise, and money. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful parent community. If you are unable to donate, you can help by being part of one of our committees. If you have any fundraising ideas, public relations experience, know any people/companies that may be able to donate, or have any other wonderful ideas, please let me or Kylee know. I can point you in the right direction as to who to contact. Thank you all for your help!
Here is a quick re-cap of this week’s activities:
Math: We have finished our place value unit and started our unit on 2D geometry on Thursday. After we finish our unit, we will move onto 3D geometry. We will continue to practice learning strategies to become faster at our addition and subtraction facts.
Writing: On Monday, we went on a nature walk to find signs of spring. Students sketched a picture of their findings. The next day, we made a crayon-resist painting of our sketch. We are now working on creating a revised version of a cinquain poem. We will finish this next week.
Reading: Students participated in their regular reading centers. This week, we worked on the -sh digraph. I read the story, Knuffle Bunny: An Unexpected Diversion.
Science: We have been studying habitat and what animals and plants need in order to survive. Students finished their animal habitat books this week.
Social Studies: This week, we have been learning about Mount Fuji. We learned about the Japanese artist, Hokusai Katsushika, who created 36 views of Mount Fuji. Students studied Hokusai’s art and sketched their own version of Mount Fuji. We will be creating a water-color painting next week.
Phonics: We focused on the -ee vowel digraph and will be working on the -ea vowel team next week.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Andrea
